In fact, gamers were disappointed it wasn’t included in 2015's "Mortal Kombat X," but it’s in MK11. Say, what? In 1993’s "Mortal Kombat II," the face of sound designer Dan Forden would pop up, along with a high-pitched “Toasty!” Silly, yes, but this Easter egg became a fun fan favorite. Speaking of secrets, there’s a fun Easter egg that reintroduces “Toasty!” The Krypt takes place on an island belonging to Shang Tsung – a name familiar to “old school” MK fans – and there's many cameos that serve as a nod to previous games in the series. ![]() For example, you can find a light and dark amulet, or a staff, and earn virtual currency to open chests in other game modes. You’ll be rewarded for your exploration and experimentation by unlocking goodies in the game, such as finishing moves, costumes, concept art, and more. The Krypt is a third-person adventure game, where you run through gory labyrinths, uncover hidden paths, solve puzzles, and open chests. Have you heard of the Krypt? This “game within a game” returns in MK11, with dozens of winks to past Mortal Kombat lore buried inside including fire-breathing spiders.
